Constructing electrostatic self-assembled ultrathin porous red 2D g-C3N4/Fe2N Schottky catalyst for high-efficiency tetracycline removal in photo-Fenton-like processes

Jian Yang et al.

Summary: Efficient photo-Fenton Schottky catalysts were designed and fabricated by facile electrostatic self-assembly of metallic Fe2N nanoparticles on red g-C3N4 surface, which provided more active sites and facilitated photoexcited charge separation. Fe2N as an efficient co-catalyst in the photo-Fenton process was beneficial for Fe3+/Fe2+ transformation and H2O2 activation, leading to outstanding catalytic activity of the prepared catalysts.

Weakly hydrophobic nanoconfinement by graphene aerogels greatly enhances the reactivity and ambient stability of reactivity of MIL-101-Fe in Fenton-like reaction

Yuwei Zhang et al.

Summary: This study presents a novel strategy of growing MIL-101-Fe nanoparticles inside graphene aerogel (GA) to create shapeable GA/MIL-101-Fe nanocomposites with higher reactivity in Fenton-like reaction compared to pure MIL-101-Fe. The enhanced reactivity is attributed to smaller particle size, active Fe(II) sites, and defects in the GA matrix. By incorporating MIL-101-Fe into a weakly hydrophobic composite, the loss of catalytic reactivity in humid environments is greatly inhibited and the recovery of reactivity at mild temperatures is accelerated. This work demonstrates the potential of nanoconfined structures to improve catalytic performance and overcome intrinsic limitations.

A Metal-Organic Gel-Carbon Nanotube Nanocomposite for Electrochemical Detection of Nitrite

Fan Ding et al.

Summary: A nanocomposite material consisting of MOG-Cu and MWCNTs was prepared and used as a sensor for electrochemical detection of nitrite. The addition of MWCNTs did not affect the formation and structure of the composite material, but increased the electrochemical surface area and facilitated charge transport, leading to enhanced oxidation current of nitrite. The sensor demonstrated high sensitivity, low detection limit, and good reproducibility, making it a valuable tool for monitoring nitrite in food samples.
