High Carrier Mobility and High Figure of Merit in the CuBiSe2 Alloyed GeTe

Liang-Cao Yin et al.

Summary: According to the Mott's relation, the figure-of-merit of a thermoelectric material depends on the charge carrier concentration and mobility. By alloying GeTe with CuBiSe2, the carrier concentration and power factor can be optimized while reducing lattice thermal conductivity, leading to enhanced efficiency in thermoelectric materials.

Stability and Thermoelectric Properties of Zn4Sb3 with TiO2 Nanoparticle Inclusions

Karl F. F. Fischer et al.

Summary: The addition of TiO2 nanoparticles in pressed pellets of beta-Zn4Sb3 does not prevent zinc migration, although it does affect thermal conductivity and electrical resistivity. However, the overall zT remains unchanged. The inclusion of TiO2 nanoparticles lowers the degradation rate by up to 75%, but long-term stability is not achieved.

Operando structural investigations of thermoelectric materials

Lasse Rabol Jorgensen et al.

Summary: Operando characterization allows direct insight into material behavior under application conditions, and a new setup has been developed to measure structural, resistance, and Seebeck coefficient data of thermoelectric materials. The temperature-dependent zinc migration in beta-Zn4Sb3 is observed, demonstrating the need to consider electrochemical effects for ion migration properties. The operando setup is versatile beyond thermoelectric materials, making it suitable for studying ion diffusion or structural transformations in solid-state reactions.
