Performance and interactions of diclofenac adsorption using Alginate/ Carbon-based Films: Experimental investigation and statistical physics modelling

Muhamad Sharafee Shamsudin et al.

Summary: The novel alginate/carbon films (AC-films) showed promising potential as an adsorbent for the removal of diclofenac (DCF) in water treatment. The adsorption performance was influenced by temperature and solution pH, with maximum adsorption achieved at pH 3 and 303 K. Statistical physics calculations helped analyze the adsorption mechanism and the thermodynamic calculations confirmed an exothermic and spontaneous adsorption process for DCF on AC-films.

Green synthesis of carbon nanotubes impregnated with metallic nanoparticles: Characterization and application in glyphosate adsorption

Julia C. Diel et al.

Summary: In this study, multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) were used as support material for metallic nanoparticles produced by green synthesis, with pecan leaves as a reducing agent. The synthesized materials showed favorable adsorption of glyphosate, with iron nanoparticles impregnated MWCNTs having the highest adsorption capacity and removal percentage. This study demonstrated the potential for advanced adsorbents for glyphosate removal through green synthesis.

Adsorption of ibuprofen on cocoa shell biomass-based adsorbents: Interpretation of the adsorption equilibriumvia statistical physics theory

Haifa A. Al-Yousef et al.

Summary: The adsorption of ibuprofen on raw and functionalized cocoa shell biomasses was studied, with functionalized biomasses showing higher adsorption capacity; the adsorption was an exothermic process with adsorption energies ranging from 1.46 to 3.25 kJ/mol; the density of adsorption sites and adsorption energies played a crucial role in determining the performance of the adsorbents.

Physico-chemical interpretations of the adsorption isotherms of D-π-A sensitizers with pyridyl group on TiO2 for dye sensitized solar cells using statistical physics and density functional theory

Marwa Ben Manaa et al.

Summary: This paper utilizes a statistical physics theory to analyze the adsorption isotherms of three D-A dyes bearing pyridyl group on TiO2 for dye sensitized solar cells. The results indicate a chemisorption process occurred, and DFT was used to determine the adsorbed modes and electronic structures of the dyes, revealing the system with the highest dye regeneration efficiency.
