Hydrogen production via water-gas shift reaction over gold supported on Ni-based layered double hydroxides

Margarita Gabrovska et al.

Summary: Partial replacement of Ni by Mg resulted in moderate activity of NiMgAl and Au/NiMgAl catalysts than NiAl analogues due to smaller Ni amount that could not supply sufficient number catalystically active sites, higher thermal stability leading to the creation of the active Ni species at higher temperatures, and partial regeneration of the layered structure with the assistance of small Au particles, Mg, and the reaction medium as well.

Catalytic waste Kraft lignin hydrodeoxygenation to liquid fuels over a hollow Ni-Fe catalyst

Xiaomeng Dou et al.

Summary: The depolymerization and demethoxylation of Kraft lignin (KL) was achieved using a novel H-NiFe2O4 catalyst under mild conditions, with high liquid product yield and minimal coke yield. The catalytic performance of H-NiFe2O4 benefits from the synergy of Ni and Fe, promoting lignin depolymerization while suppressing condensation reactions. Plausible reaction pathways of KL depolymerization over H-NiFe2O4 are discussed, demonstrating the potential of this catalytic system for efficient conversion of KL into liquid fuels.

Enhancing Lithium and Sodium Storage Properties of TiO2(B) Nanobelts by Doping with Nickel and Zinc

Denis P. Opra et al.

Summary: Nickel- and zinc-doped TiO2(B) nanobelts were synthesized using a hydrothermal technique, with nickel incorporation expanding the unit cell volume and narrowing the band gap, resulting in enhanced conductivity. Zinc doping improved electronic properties. Nickel-doped mesoporous TiO2(B) nanobelts showed improved electrochemical performance in lithium and sodium batteries.

Roles of highly ordered mesoporous structures of Fe-Ni bimetal oxides for an enhanced high-temperature water-gas shift reaction activity†

Yong Min Park et al.

Summary: The highly ordered mesoporous Fe-Ni bimetal oxide (m-FeNi) catalysts showed enhanced activity and stability with high CO2 selectivity and small methanation activity at an optimal Ni/Fe ratio of 0.24. The well-dispersed Ni nanoparticles played a key role in altering the reducibility of Fe nanoparticles and increasing the interaction of Fe2O3-NiO interfaces, leading to less aggregation of Fe nanoparticles and smaller coke depositions. The newly formed stronger interactions between the mesoporous Fe2O3 and highly dispersed NiO nanoparticles at their optimal amounts were responsible for the superior structural and catalytic stability of m-FeNi metal oxides even under HT-WGS reaction conditions.

Intrinsic activity modulation and structural design of NiFe alloy catalysts for an efficient oxygen evolution reaction

Qiaoling Kang et al.

Summary: NiFe alloy catalysts are increasingly studied for their low cost and excellent OER catalytic activity, but the identification of active sites and OER mechanism remains controversial. This review discusses strategies to optimize active sites using amorphous structures and dual-metal single atoms, aiming to shed light on the exploration of novel electrocatalysts in the field of energy.

Summary: The study reveals that atomically dispersed Ni delta- species on the TiO2-A surface serve as the active site for the selective hydrodeoxygenation of guaiacol to phenolics, while metallic Ni-0 particles formed on the TiO2-R surface catalyze the typical catalytic hydrogenation, preferentially saturating the aromatic ring.
