Engineered Coatings via the Assembly of Amino-Quinone Networks

Qi-Zhi Zhong et al.

Summary: By employing a co-assembly strategy with quinone and polyamine building blocks, we have developed a method to precisely control the structure and properties of coatings on various materials, including thickness, adhesion, wettability, and zeta potential. The properties of the films can be tuned by increasing the length of the amine building blocks, and the films can be post-functionalized to form diverse nanostructures for various applications.

Design of interchain hydrogen bond in polyimide membrane for improved gas selectivity and membrane stability

Shanshan Wu et al.

Summary: In this study, a strong hydrogen bond among polymer chains of 6FDA-durene polyimide (Du-PI) membranes was designed by introducing isophthalic dihydrazide (IPD) molecules as a cross-linker, which significantly increased the membrane's mechanical strength, anti-plasticization property, and gas permselectivity. The use of IPD as a cross-linker was shown to be a facile and effective strategy to enhance the inter-polymer chain interaction and improve membrane stability in a mild way.

Confinement Capillarity of Thin Coating for Boosting Solar-Driven Water Evaporation

Zhenxing Wang et al.

Summary: Using confinement capillarity on porous sponge with photothermal thin coating is an effective way to enhance solar-driven water evaporation rate. The formation of ultrathin water layer can increase evaporation area and prevent excessive water heating, significantly improving the rate of solar steam generation. Photothermal materials with confinement capillarity possess high evaporation rate and anti-salt-accumulation property.
