Deep eutectic solvents formed by EmimCl plus lactams: Effective SO2 capture and conversion into sulphur via DESs-mediated Claus process

Ping Li et al.

Summary: The research successfully demonstrated the capture and conversion of sulfur dioxide (SO2) using deep eutectic solvents (DESs) as a green medium, with high loading capacity and reversibility. The results of sulfur oxide absorption experiments suggest that the absorption of SO2 by investigative DESs is a physical process, and DESs can also catalyze the conversion of SO2 to sulfur.

Task-specific ionic liquids as absorbents and catalysts for efficient capture and conversion of H2S into value-added mercaptan acids

Xiaomin Zhang et al.

Summary: This study developed a series of task-specific ionic liquids as absorbents and catalysts for the capture and conversion of H2S into high valuable mercaptan acids. The conversion process achieved good to quantitative conversion with catalytic loading of ILs, and a plausible reaction-separation-integration strategy was proposed for efficient conversion. Overall, this work presents a green, simple, and effective method for the capture and catalytic conversion of H2S.

Summary: Developing high-efficiency NH3 separation technology is crucial for advancing the NH3 synthesis process. The newly designed deep eutectic solvents show excellent performance in the NH3 separation, with the mechanism of efficient NH3 absorption being the strong interaction between weak-acidic groups of the solvents and NH3.

Investigation on surface smoothing of silicon-on-insulator with gas phase hydrogen chloride etching

Nan Gao et al.

Summary: Gas phase hydrogen chloride etching can achieve surface smoothing and thinning of the top silicon layer of SOI, with etch rate being influenced by HCl proportion and gas flow. The etch rate remains constant within a certain temperature range, and the root mean square roughness value of the etched sample can meet the requirements of CMOS applications.
