Disordered nitrogen-defect-rich porous carbon nitride photocatalyst for highly efficient H2 evolution under visible-light irradiation

Cheng Cheng et al.

Summary: The optimal choice for preparing high-performance GCN appears to be biuret, as BCN exhibited a long-range atomic disordered structure with numerous nitrogen defects embedded and extended visible-light absorption, improved charge carrier separation, and rich available reactive sites. This resulted in ultrahigh photocatalytic H-2 production and excellent O-2 production performance, with a high AQY of 45.5% at 420 nm, making it one of the top performers among GCN-based photocatalysts.

Photocatalytic solar hydrogen production from water on a 100-m2 scale

Hiroshi Nishiyama et al.

Summary: Hydrogen, as an energy carrier, can be obtained through photocatalysis and electrolysis, making it a carbon-neutral energy source. While photocatalytic water splitting efficiency is low, large-scale safe production and collection of hydrogen is feasible. The essential next steps for economic viability and practical use are reactor and process optimization to reduce costs and improve efficiency and stability.

Combined soft templating with thermal exfoliation toward synthesis of porous g-C3N4 nanosheets for improved photocatalytic hydrogen evolution

Yushuai Chen et al.

Summary: In this study, porous g-C3N4 nanosheets were prepared through a combination of pore creating with thermal exfoliation, leading to enhanced photocatalytic activity compared to the bulk counterpart. The improved catalytic performance can be attributed to the higher optical absorption intensity and increased photogenerated electron-hole separation efficiency of the porous g-C3N4 nanosheets.
