Two-Channel Space Charge Transfer-Induced Thermally Activated Delayed Fluorescent Materials for Efficient OLEDs with Low Efficiency Roll-Off

Ruifang Wang et al.

Summary: Enhancing the reverse intersystem crossing process of TADF emitters is an effective approach to achieve efficient OLEDs with low efficiency roll-off. The two novel TADF emitters designed in this work, SATDAC and SATX-DAC, showed efficient EQEs and reduced efficiency roll-off through a two-RISC-channel strategy. X-ray diffraction and transient photoluminescence decay measurements suggest that the design with two RISC channels can enhance the performance of TADF emitters, especially at high excitation densities.

A New BODIPY Material for Pure Color and Long Lifetime Red Hyperfluorescence Organic Light-Emitting Diode

Young Hun Jung et al.

Summary: A red fluorescent material, 1,3,7,9-tetrakis(4-(tert-butyl)-phenyl)-5,5-difluoro-10-(2-methoxyphenyl)-5H-4l4,5l4-dipyrrolo[1,2-c:2',1'-f][1,3,2]diazaborinine (4tBuMB), was utilized as an emitting dopant in a thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) sensitized hyperfluorescence organic light-emitting diode (HFOLED), demonstrating high photoluminescence quantum yield and device stability. The performance of the HFOLED device with 4tBuMB and 4CzTPN as the sensitizing host outperformed that with 4CzIPN, attributed to higher Forster resonance energy transfer rate and improved device lifetime.

Rational Utilization of Intramolecular Hydrogen Bonds to Achieve Blue TADF with EQEs of Nearly 30% and Single Emissive Layer All-TADF WOLED

Mengyao Ma et al.

Summary: This study developed a series of highly efficient blue TADF compounds by using pyridine as a bridging unit and incorporating intramolecular hydrogen bonds and modifying the carbazole ring structure. These modifications significantly increased the photoluminescence quantum yields and LED efficiencies. In particular, when used as a blue emitter in all-TADF white OLEDs, SON-tBuCz achieved a high EQE and color rendering index.

Identification of the Key Parameters for Horizontal Transition Dipole Orientation in Fluorescent and TADF Organic Light-Emitting Diodes

Francisco Tenopala-Carmona et al.

Summary: Horizontal orientation of the emissive transition dipole moment (TDM) in OLEDs can significantly improve light outcoupling efficiency. Determining the drivers of horizontal orientation, such as emitter molecule aspect ratio and glass-transition temperature (T-g), is crucial. While molecular weight and linearity are key parameters for neat systems, host T-g and emitter length and MW become more relevant in host-guest systems with low and high molecular weight emitters, respectively. Future research should aim to establish a comprehensive model of molecular orientation in OLEDs.

High efficiency and long lifetime orange-red thermally activated delayed fluorescent organic light emitting diodes by donor and acceptor engineering

Shantaram Kothavale et al.

Summary: Highly efficient and stable TADF emitters are needed for commercial applications, but achieving high EQE and long lifetime in a single organic molecular design is difficult, especially in long wavelength designs. Two orange-red TADF emitters, 6,7-DCNQx-DICz and 5,8-DCNQx-DICz, were designed and synthesized, with 6,7-DCNQx-DICz achieving a higher EQE of 23.9% and a lifetime of 931 hours, while 5,8-DCNQx-DICz had a lower EQE of 12.5%, but a longer lifetime of 1184 hours. The combination of DICz and DCQx units could be a promising chemical platform for future highly efficient and long lifetime orange-red TADF OLED designs.
