Photodriven Transient Picosecond Top-Layer Semiconductor to Metal Phase-Transition in p-Doped Molybdenum Disulfide

Nomi L. A. N. Sorgenfrei et al.

Summary: Visible light is demonstrated to induce a transient metallic surface layer on p-doped 2H-MoS2, leading to a phase-transition of the surface layer. This light-induced phenomenon may increase charge mobility on the surface, enhancing photocatalytic reactions on 2H-MoS2. The discovery of this mechanism provides a new pathway for controlling surface properties of semiconductors.

Hollow MoSe2@Bi2S3/CdS Core-Shell Nanostructure as Dual Z-Scheme Heterojunctions with Enhanced Full Spectrum Photocatalytic-Photothermal Performance

Ke Wang et al.

Summary: The inadequate separation of carriers remains a major obstacle to the practical application of photocatalysis. The rational design of semiconductor photocatalysts, such as the MoSe2@Bi2S3/CdS dual Z-Scheme heterojunction, can improve the spatial separation of carriers and achieve excellent photocatalytic performance in hydrogen evolution and pollutants removal. This dual functional photocatalyst shows potential for addressing the energy crisis and environmental pollution.

Photocatalytic activation of peroxymonosulfate by carbon quantum dots functionalized carbon nitride for efficient degradation of bisphenol A under visible-light irradiation

Hongbo Ming et al.

Summary: A metal-free carbon quantum dots (CQDs) functioned polymer carbon nitride (PCN) was synthesized and used as an efficient photocatalyst for peroxymonosulfate (PMS) activation towards bisphenol A (BPA) degradation under visible-light irradiation. The incorporation of CQDs in PCN enhanced the performance for PMS activation and showed good cyclic stability. This study provides a facile synthetic strategy to prepare metal-free catalyst for photocatalytic activation of PMS in wastewater treatment.
