Yaxue He et al.

Summary: CO2 fermentation is a promising process for producing biofuels like ethanol, with the highest ethanol concentration achieved at 25 degrees Celsius in this study. Ethanol production is linked to acetic acid production, with the highest ethanol to acetic acid ratio observed at 25 degrees Celsius. Clostridium sp. were the prevalent species contributing to ethanol production in the study.

In-situ methane enrichment of biogas from anaerobic digestion of palm oil mill effluent by addition of zero valent iron (ZVI)

Vichai Domrongpokkaphan et al.

Summary: The study found that adding zero-valent iron (ZVI) in anaerobic digestion can enhance methane production from palm oil mill effluent (POME) and increase methane content in biogas. ZVI acts as a buffer for acid generation, providing extra electrons, ferrous ions, and ferric ions that promote key microbial activities in the anaerobic digestion process.

Economic assessment of biogas purification systems for removal of both H2S and siloxane from biogas

Yuyao Zhang et al.

Summary: This study evaluated two biogas purification systems for efficient removal of H2S and D5, finding that the combination of BTF and AC was more profitable than IOBA and AC, despite higher initial capital investment. The BTF-AC combination achieved high elimination rates for both H2S and D5, providing cost savings and the benefit of heat production, making it a more profitable option for biogas production.

Separation and Analysis of Nanoscale Zero-Valent Iron from Soil

Pei Li et al.

Summary: A new analysis approach combining ultrasound-assisted solvent extraction, magnetic separation, and single particle inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (SP-ICP-MS) was established to successfully isolate nZVI particles from soils and accurately quantify their concentration and size. After optimization, acceptable recoveries in both particle number and Fe mass could be achieved for different sizes and concentrations of nZVI, providing a feasible method to quantify nZVI in complex soil matrices.
