Probing the Interface between Encapsulated Nanoparticles and Metal-Organic Frameworks for Catalytic Selectivity Control

Wei-Shang Lo et al.

Summary: This study investigated the interfacial structure between metal nanoparticles (NPs) and metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) using spectroscopy, and found that fine differences in interfacial structures generated by different encapsulation methods can affect selectivity. The one-pot method, which generates a direct interface, showed the highest selectivity towards crotyl alcohol.

Phenylacetylene hydrogenation coupled with benzyl alcohol dehydrogenation over Cu/CeO2: A consideration of Cu oxidation state

Chiara Pischetola et al.

Summary: The study examined the impact of copper oxidation state on the products formed in the continuous gas phase reactions of phenylacetylene hydrogenation and benzyl alcohol dehydrogenation over Cu/CeO₂ catalyst. It was found that the concentration of Cu-0 and Cu+ influenced the selectivity and turnover frequency of the products significantly. In the coupled process, full hydrogen utilization, exclusive benzaldehyde/styrene formation, and a greater styrene turnover frequency were achieved, showing the potential of sustainable hydrogen free hydrogenations using non-noble Cu catalysts.

Enhanced Selective Oxidation of Benzyl Alcohol via In Situ H2O2 Production over Supported Pd-Based Catalysts

Caitlin M. Crombie et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that bimetallic Pd-Fe catalysts supported on TiO2 are highly effective in oxidizing benzyl alcohol to benzaldehyde through the in situ production of H2O2. The enhanced activity of Pd-Fe catalysts, compared to other analogues, can be attributed to their bifunctionality for synthesizing H2O2 and catalyzing the production of oxygen-based radical species.

Regulating coordination number in atomically dispersed Pt species on defect-rich graphene for n-butane dehydrogenation reaction

Xiaowen Chen et al.

Summary: By introducing atomically dispersed Sn promoters, fully exposed Pt-3 clusters were successfully fabricated on defective nanodiamond@graphene, showing higher conversion and remarkable alkene selectivity in n-butane direct dehydrogenation reaction compared to typical Pt NP and Pt SA catalysts. The study correlated dehydrogenation activity with the average coordination number of Pt-Pt bond, providing insights into the structure effects on the reaction at the atomic level.
