Comparative study of LuxY1-xAG (x=0..1) laser ceramics doped with 5% Yb3+

V. V. Balashov et al.

Summary: In this study, a comprehensive comparative study of 5% Yb-doped LuYAG ceramics with variation Lu/Y ratio was conducted for the first time. Parameters such as grain sizes, shrinkage curves, lattice constants, and transmission spectra were measured, as well as the thermal conductivity in a wide temperature range. The 5% Yb:LuAG disk laser showed an output power of 12 W and a slope efficiency of 60%.

Synthesis and luminescence properties of color-tunable Ce, Mn co-doped LuAG transparent ceramics by sintering under atmospheric pressure

Chenyao Zhao et al.

Summary: Transparent ceramics Lu3-x-yCexMnyAl5-ySiyO12 were prepared through high-temperature solid-state reaction under a flowing O-2 atmosphere and exhibited excellent optical transmittance and luminescent properties. The color-tunable Ce, Mn co-doped LuAG transparent ceramics showed promising potential as candidates for white LEDs due to their outstanding luminescence thermal stability and efficient energy transfer.

Kerr-lens mode-locked Yb:LuAG ceramic thin-disk laser

Shotaro Kitajima et al.

Summary: A Kerr-lens mode-locked thin-disk laser using Yb:LuAG ceramic material has been demonstrated, achieving the highest output power of 17 W with a pulse duration of 130 fs. Additionally, a pulse duration of 88 fs was obtained using a high-Q factor cavity. This study highlights the potential of ceramic thin disks for high-power ultrashort pulse laser sources.
