Remarkable microwave heating performance of MWCNTs/polypropylene composites verified by electromagnetic-thermal coupling experiment and simulation

Lin Tang et al.

Summary: This study investigates the microwave heating performance of MWCNT/PP composites. The results show that the sample reaches its highest temperature when the mass content of MWCNT is 3 wt%. The composites were characterized by SEM, four-point probe method and VNA, revealing the formation of an effective three-dimensional conductive network at a mass content of 1 wt%. The microwave heating mechanism of the composites was analyzed using EM-thermal coupling, and the absorbance was found to be a useful indicator for estimating the microwave heating property of MWCNTs/PP composites.
