New Insight into the Doped Strontium Titanate Cathode with In Situ Exsolved Nickel Nanoparticles for Electrolysis of Carbon Dioxide

Lu Bai et al.

Summary: By using solid oxide electrolyzers to change CO2 into CO, using doped SrTiO3 as cathode material can further improve the electrolysis performance. In situ exsolved Ni nanoparticles in the cathode material play a crucial role in enhancing the efficiency of electrolysis. With the presence of Ni nanoparticles, the yield of CO is increased by about 50% and the current efficiency is raised by around 10%.

Summary: Solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) are solid-state environmentally friendly power generation devices with high energy conversion efficiency, but their commercialization has been hindered by long-term stability issues. Recent research has focused on oxide ceramic anodes to address stability problems, as well as investigating interface compatibility, interfacial reactions, and element diffusion between oxide electrodes and electrolytes in SOFCs.
