Visualising and understanding cGMP signals in the cardiovascular system

Robert Feil et al.

Summary: cGMP, an important signalling molecule in humans, can be analyzed at the single-cell level using fluorescent cGMP biosensors. Through cGMP imaging, new insights into endogenous cGMP signalling and drug action, with a focus on the cardiovascular system, have emerged. Challenges and future directions of cGMP imaging, such as direct visualization of cGMP microdomains and simultaneous monitoring of cGMP and other signalling molecules, are also discussed.

Detecting Forster resonance energy transfer in living cells by conventional and spectral flow cytometry

Jared Henderson et al.

Summary: This study presents two methods to measure FRET in living cells by flow cytometry. By using different flow cytometers and analysis methods, specific kinase activities can be measured with increased single-cell precision in real time and in the presence of other fluorophores. Additionally, spectral flow cytometry may enable cell sorting based on FRET levels.
