Asprosin promotes β-cell apoptosis by inhibiting the autophagy of β-cell via AMPK-mTOR pathway

Rui Wang et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that asprosin induces apoptosis in beta-cells by inhibiting autophagy. High glucose and asprosin both lead to increased apoptosis and altered expression of certain proteins in MIN6 cells, affecting the AMPK-mTOR signaling pathway. Activation of the AMPK pathway by AICAR partially reverses the effects of asprosin on autophagy and apoptosis in beta-cells.

Investigation of plasma asprosin and saliva levels in newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes mellitus patients treated with metformin

Nevzat Gozel et al.

Summary: The study found that levels of asprosin significantly increased in newly identified T2DM patients, with a significant decrease in blood asprosin levels after metformin treatment. Saliva asprosin levels were higher in T2DM patients, indicating a potential association between asprosin and T2DM development.

Summary: The study found that NT-proBNP and hs-cTnT are independently associated with the development of clinical PAD, with each log unit increment in hs-cTnT and NT-proBNP leading to a 30% and 50% higher risk of clinical PAD respectively. No significant associations were observed for incident low ABI.

Novel adipokine asprosin modulates browning and adipogenesis in white adipose tissue

Yanli Miao et al.

Summary: This study revealed that the novel adipokine asprosin negatively regulates browning and promotes lipid deposition in adipose tissue through a Nrf2-mediated mechanism. These findings suggest that asprosin may be a promising target for the prevention and treatment of obesity and other metabolic diseases.

Summary: Fibrosis is a pathological condition resulting from abnormal wound healing responses, contributing to significant mortality worldwide. Metabolic reprogramming plays a crucial role in the pathogenic phenotype of fibrotic diseases, particularly in myofibroblast differentiation. Understanding metabolic changes and amino acid synthesis is essential for developing novel therapeutic approaches.

Endothelial-Mesenchymal Transition in Cardiovascular Disease

Zahra Alvandi et al.

Summary: Endothelial-to-mesenchymal transition is a dynamic process where endothelial cells transition to mesenchymal cells, starting with loosening and migration, ultimately leading to decreased endothelial functions. This process plays a critical role in inflammation, angiogenesis, and cardiovascular diseases, affecting cell function and tissue integrity.

Nordic Walking at Maximal Fat Oxidation Intensity Decreases Circulating Asprosin and Visceral Obesity in Women With Metabolic Disorders

Malgorzata Kantorowicz et al.

Summary: The study concluded that 8-week Nordic walking training at the maximal fat oxidation intensity significantly reduces the concentration of asprosin, waist and hip circumference, waist-to-height ratio, and body adiposity index in young women with metabolic disorders. This suggests that this training method can improve visceral obesity in this population.
