Towards sustainable supply strategy in the food industry: the case of Finland

The development of short food supply chain for locally produced honey Understanding consumers' opinions and willingness to pay in Argentina

Summary: The study analyzed consumers' opinions towards the short food supply chain (SFSC) and their willingness to pay for local honey products before and after a hedonic evaluation test. Results showed that consumers' willingness to pay for local honey products is influenced by specific quality cues and overall sensory acceptance. Consumers who highly value the social and environmental roles of the SFSC are more quality demanding and willing to pay more for locally produced honeys.

Supply chain sustainability practices and governance for mitigating sustainability risk and improving market performance: A dynamic capability perspective

Summary: This study has developed and validated a multi-dimensional scale of supply chain sustainability (SCS) and investigated its impact on market performance through a mediated-moderated modeling approach. The findings show that SCS consists of social, environmental, economic (financial), and economic (production) dimensions, and that it has a significant conditional indirect effect on market performance through reducing sustainability risks at higher levels of sustainability governance.

Third-party sustainability certifications in food retailing: Certification design from a sustainable supply chain management perspective

Different cases of certification design in the food retailing industry were explored, providing new insights important to researchers, retailers, and supply chains. The results show that retail efforts to develop certifications are driven by better alignment with the business' goal of improving sustainability performance. Additionally, the study identifies numerous factors that influence the development of certifications via collaborative or unilateral efforts.
