Summary: This study used a fourth-generation multi-theory model to examine handwashing behavior among college students during COVID-19, finding that participatory dialogue and behavioral confidence significantly affected the initiation of handwashing, while emotional transformation, practice for change, and changes in the social environment significantly influenced the sustainability of handwashing behavior.
