Bone defect map of the true acetabulum in hip dysplasia (Crowe type II and III) based on three-dimensional image reconstruction analysis

Xinggui Wen et al.

Summary: The study shows that the high hip center technique can improve bone coverage of the cup in acetabular reconstruction for patients with Crowe type II and III DDH. Using a 44mm cup can achieve satisfactory bone coverage, and most patients have posterior superior bone defects.

Total hip arthroplasty using a three-dimensional porous titanium acetabular cup: an examination of micromotion using subject-specific finite element analysis

Takaki Miyagawa et al.

Summary: The mid-term clinical results of total hip arthroplasty using a 3D porous titanium cup were excellent, but radiolucent lines frequently appeared. Finite element analysis indicated that there was significant micromotion at the site where radiolucent lines appeared.

Effects of the depth of the acetabular component during simulated acetabulum reaming in total hip arthroplasty

Jianlin Zuo et al.

Summary: This study evaluated differences in rotation center, cup coverage, and biomechanical effects between conventional and anatomical techniques for acetabular cup insertion. Results showed that anatomical technique had better performance in terms of rotation center shift, coverage rate, and micromotion.

Custom Made Monoflange Acetabular Components for the Treatment of Paprosky Type III Defects

Sebastian Philipp von Hertzberg-Boelch et al.

Summary: This study analyzed the outcomes of 14 patients treated with custom made monoflanged acetabular components (CMACs) for Paprosky type III defects during revision total hip arthroplasty. Results indicated that CMACs can be considered as an option for acetabular bone loss in revision THA, although high failure rates due to periprosthetic infection were observed.

Biomechanical effect of intertrochanteric curved varus osteotomy on stress reduction in femoral head osteonecrosis: a finite element analysis

Yuzhu Wang et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the influence of CVO on stress reduction in necrotic bone using finite element analysis with different CE angles. It was found that stress reduction was obtained after CVO, with higher stress levels in models with a CE angle of 18 degrees. The intact ratio measured in 3D had a good negative correlation with stress after CVO and had more influence on stress distribution compared to other geometric parameters.
