Clinical Validation of Whole Genome Sequencing for Cancer Diagnostics

Paul Roepman et al.

Summary: Whole genome sequencing (WGS) in cancer diagnosis demonstrates high sensitivity and precision, reliably detecting various mutation types and serving as the most comprehensive genetic testing method.

Micro-costing diagnostics in oncology: from single-gene testing to whole- genome sequencing

Clemence T. B. Pasmans et al.

Summary: This study calculated and compared the total cost of current diagnostic techniques and WGS in the treatment of NSCLC, melanoma, CRC, and GIST in the Netherlands. The results showed that operational costs accounted for over 90% of the total cost per technique, with variations ranging from euro 58 to euro 2925 per cancer patient. Detailed cost differences and value comparisons between these diagnostic techniques enable future economic evaluations to support decision-making.

Limited evolution of the actionable metastatic cancer genome under therapeutic pressure

Joris van de Haar et al.

Summary: Genomic profiling is essential in determining treatment options for metastatic cancer patients. This study found limited evolution of the actionable metastatic cancer genome after treatment, suggesting that a single whole-genome sequencing analysis is generally sufficient for identifying treatment opportunities. Longitudinal sampling of metastatic biopsies showed relatively stable actionable genome over time.

Systems thinking in health technology assessment: a scoping review

Marina Richardson et al.

Summary: The majority of studies (55%) considered multiple levels of the health system in their analysis and assessed multiple classes of interventions. Approximately half of the studies (52%) evaluated the influence of policy options on the system as a whole, while the other half assessed the impact of interventions on different phases of the disease pathway or life trajectory.
