Preparation of porous carbon materials from biomass pyrolysis vapors for hydrogen storage

Huiyan Zhang et al.

Summary: A novel method for preparing porous carbon materials from biomass pyrolysis vapors with a calcium citrate template was proposed. The effects of various factors on the yield of biomass pyrolysis products and the structure of porous carbons were investigated, leading to the establishment of optimal preparation conditions. This study provides a new and environmentally-friendly approach for the preparation of porous carbon materials, with promising hydrogen adsorption capacity.

The mineral transformation and molten behaviors of biomass waste ashes in gasification-melting process

Zefeng Ge et al.

Summary: Understanding ash transformation properties is crucial for optimizing gasification behavior of biomass wastes. The study investigated the slag property of five typical biomass wastes, finding that ash fusion process, mineral transformation, and AAEMs solidification behaviors are related to ash chemical compositions. The data obtained provides valuable information for efficient and clean utilization of various biomass wastes during gasification process.

Comparison between hydrogen-rich biogas production from conventional pyrolysis and microwave pyrolysis of sewage sludge: is microwave pyrolysis always better in the whole temperature range?

Yanting Liu et al.

Summary: The study investigated the influence of pyrolysis temperature on biogas production from sewage sludge using conventional pyrolysis and microwave pyrolysis. Results showed that with increasing temperature, the product yields varied significantly for conventional pyrolysis, while the changes were minimal for microwave pyrolysis. Microwave pyrolysis resulted in more hydrogen atoms converting into tar instead of being released into biogas, indicating the enhancement of hydrogen transfer reactions at higher temperatures.

On-line analysis of the correlation between gasification characteristics and microstructure of woody biowaste after hydrothermal carbonization

Mingxun Zeng et al.

Summary: This study pretreated poplar sawdust by hydrothermal carbonization and found that the fixed carbon and higher calorific value of hydrochars significantly increased. The cold gas efficiency also improved, with carbon structure having a greater impact on hydrochars gasification characteristics. The crystallinity of hydrochars showed correlation with the total yield and H2/CO of syngas.

Identifying Synergistic Effects between Biomass Components during Pyrolysis and Pointers Concerning Experiment Design

Meredith Rose Barr et al.

Summary: The study reveals that char yield deficits in lignocellulosic biomass pyrolysis may result from chemical interactions between biomass components. By adjusting experimental parameters like heating rates, the deficits can be mitigated, highlighting distinct pyrolysis mechanisms of biomass samples compared to isolated biomass components.
