Mechanism of Thermal Protein Aggregation: Experiments and Molecular Dynamics Simulations on the High-Temperature Behavior of Myoglobin

Yuen Ki Ng et al.

Summary: The study reveals that aggregation of heat-unfolded Mb proceeds via globally unfolded conformers, contrasting with other proteins. Molecular dynamics simulations show that binding is mediated by hydrophobic contacts and salt bridges involving hydrophobically embedded Lys residues.

A theoretical study of polymorphism in VQIVYK fibrils

Jaehoon Yang et al.

Summary: The VQIVYK fragment from the Tau protein forms amyloid fibrils with paired beta-sheets, and through molecular simulations, stable polymorphs of VQIVYK fibrils with different side chain interactions have been identified. The stable polymorphs found in VQIVYK fibrils correlate with the amyloid structures of the full Tau protein, suggesting the potential for designing molecules targeting amyloid structures.

A Computational Approach to Investigate TDP-43 RNA-Recognition Motif 2 C-Terminal Fragments Aggregation in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis

Greta Grassmann et al.

Summary: This article investigates the protein aggregation process in ALS, providing a computational model of interaction based on the evaluation of shape complementarity at the molecular interfaces. The study proposes and assesses possible association mechanisms between CTFs, and performs molecular docking and additional MD simulations to propose possible complexes and evaluate their stability, focusing on high shape complementarity and involvement of beta 3 and beta 5 strands at the interfaces.
