Generalized Finger Motion Classification Model Based on Motor Unit Voting

Xiangyu Liu et al.

Summary: A subject-nonspecific finger motion classification model was developed based on motor unit (MU) voting, where a high-density surface electromyogram was decomposed into individual MUs and features extracted from each MU were input into a random forest classifier to obtain the finger label. The final prediction was selected by voting for all primary predictions provided by the decomposed MUs. Experiments on 14 subjects showed that this method significantly outperformed traditional methods in subject-nonspecific finger motion classification models.

Exploration of Human Activity Recognition Using a Single Sensor for Stroke Survivors and Able-Bodied People

Long Meng et al.

Summary: This study compared the performance of different sensors in activity recognition and found that using accelerometers could achieve the best performance in each group, with the highest accuracy in identifying activities involving stroke survivors. Additionally, a novel approach using a pre-trained model on healthy subjects to differentiate activities of stroke survivors was proposed, achieving high accuracy with accelerometers.

IoT garment for remote elderly care network

Francisco Luna-Perejon et al.

Summary: The elderly population is growing rapidly and is particularly vulnerable to respiratory diseases, making them the most affected sector in the COVID-19 epidemic. An IoT system for remote monitoring of the elderly has been developed, utilizing a smart garment to collect physiological data and send it to a cloud server in real time for monitoring and alerting in dangerous situations.

Changes in synchronization of the motor unit in muscle fatigue condition during the dynamic and isometric contraction in the Biceps Brachii muscle

Xiangyu Liu et al.

Summary: This study investigated the fatigue mechanism of Biceps Brachii muscle under different contraction tasks by analyzing the synchronization of motor unit spike trains. The results showed a significant increase in motor unit synchronization across all frequency bands, indicating that the microscopic fatigue mechanism of the muscle remains consistent regardless of the type of contraction tasks.

Open Access Dataset, Toolbox and Benchmark Processing Results of High-Density Surface Electromyogram Recordings

Xinyu Jiang et al.

Summary: This study provides an open access dataset of High densitY Surface Electromyogram (HD-sEMG) Recordings (named Hyser), a toolbox for neural interface research, and benchmark results for pattern recognition and EMG-force applications. The dataset includes five sub-datasets for various research purposes, and the toolbox can be used for analyzing the data and decomposing HD-sEMG signals into motor unit action potentials.
