Does biomass energy drive environmental sustainability? An SDG perspective for top five biomass consuming countries

Summary: This study analyzed the impact of biomass energy intensity and efficiency on sustainable development in the top five biomass energy-consuming countries. Results show that income level and urban sprawl have significant effects on the ecological footprint and emissions, while biomass energy consumption increases the ecological footprint but decreases emissions. Additionally, trade openness reduces both ecological footprint and CO2 emissions effectively.
