The effects of C/N (10-25) on the relationship of substrates, metabolites, and microorganisms in inhibited steady-state of anaerobic digestion

Zehui Zheng et al.

Summary: This study explored the relationship between substrates, metabolites, and microorganisms in the inhibited steady-state by creating a C/N gradient in anaerobic digestion. The results showed that competition among bacteria was high under low C/N conditions, while cooperation among bacteria was high under high C/N conditions. Additionally, the study further elucidated the process of ammonia inhibition and microbiological indicators of the inhibited steady-state.

Anaerobic co-digestion of chicken manure and cardboard waste: Focusing on methane production, microbial community analysis and energy evaluation

Shunan Zhao et al.

Summary: The study investigated the synergistic effect and microbial changes during anaerobic co-digestion of chicken manure and cardboard. Results showed increased methane production and enhancement of acidogenesis and hydrolase activity. Microbial analysis revealed higher acetoclastic Methanosaeta abundance and a network analysis demonstrated methane production through the matching of hydrolytic and acidogenesis bacteria. Energy balance was improved by 38% with an energy recovery rate of 46.4% through the synergistic effect.

Performance and microbial community dynamics in anaerobic co-digestion of chicken manure and corn stover with different modification methods and trace element supplementation strategy

Yufang Wei et al.

Summary: This study found that by combining KOH or LFD modifications with trace element supplementation, the biomethane yield of anaerobic co-digestion can be significantly increased. Changes in microbial community at the genus level can affect the main digestion pathways, ultimately influencing co-digestion performance.
