Citrus sinensis and Musa acuminata Peel Waste Extract Mediated Synthesis of TiO2/rGO Nanocomposites for Photocatalytic Degradation of Methylene Blue under Visible Light Irradiation

Mulugeta Hirko Olana et al.

Summary: In this study, TiO2 nanoparticles and TiO2/rGO nanocomposites were synthesized using waste extracts from Citrus sinensis and Musa acuminata peels as capping, reducing, and stabilizing agents. These nanomaterials were characterized and found to have good crystallinity and stability. The degradation of methylene blue dye under visible light irradiation was achieved using the synthesized nanocatalysts. The results showed that specific ratios of TiO2 nanoparticles and TiO2/rGO nanocomposites could efficiently degrade the dye.
