The metalloproteinase ADAM10 requires its activity to sustain surface expression

Anke Seifert et al.

Summary: The study revealed that loss of proteolytic activity of ADAM10 leads to its removal from the cell surface and the whole cell, which is temperature dependent, restricted to mature ADAM10, and associated with increased internalization, lysosomal degradation, and release of mature ADAM10 in extracellular vesicles. Recovery from this depletion requires de novo synthesis.

Regulation and function of CX3CR1 and its ligand CX3CL1 in kidney disease

Sibylle von Vietinghoff et al.

Summary: The chemokine CX3CL1 and its receptor CX3CR1 play crucial roles in kidney inflammation, facilitating leukocyte attraction to the kidney and showing high expression in various kidney diseases. This axis functions in both localized and systemic effects of renal inflammation, particularly in regulating leukocyte activity in inflammatory conditions.

Perspectives in membranous nephropathy

Nicola M. Tomas et al.

Summary: The identification of key podocyte antigens in MN has revolutionized diagnosis and treatment, with novel animal models providing valuable insights. Serum autoantibody levels and kidney biopsy staining are now used globally to guide MN management. Despite significant progress, unanswered questions remain regarding disease mechanisms, clinical antibody measurement, and future treatments.

GPR37 is processed in the N-terminal ectodomain by ADAM10 and furin

S. Orvokki Mattila et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that ADAM10 is the protease responsible for cleaving GPR37, and that Furin also participates in this process. Depletion of ADAM10 leads to reduced cleavage of GPR37 in the brain. GPR37 is the first GPCR to be processed by both ADAM10 and Furin.
