MiR-185-5p suppresses acute myeloid leukemia by inhibiting GPX1

Bo Pang et al.

Summary: The levels of miR-185-5p and GPX1 were found to be significantly altered in AML patients. Upregulation of miR-185-5p restricted proliferation and invasion of AML cells, while overexpression of GPX1 enhanced their growth.

circRNA circARNT2 Suppressed the Sensitivity of Hepatocellular Carcinoma Cells to Cisplatin by Targeting the miR-155-5p/PDK1 Axis

Yueyong Li et al.

Summary: Our study revealed that circARNT2 is significantly upregulated in HCC patients and can modulate cisplatin resistance through the miR-155-5p/PDK1 pathway. This suggests that circARNT2 may serve as a promising therapeutic target for overcoming cisplatin resistance in HCC.

Expression profiles, biological functions and clinical significance of circRNAs in bladder cancer

Xiaoqi Yang et al.

Summary: circRNAs play crucial regulatory roles in BCa by modulating various biological behaviors through miRNA sponging mechanisms. The expression levels of circRNAs are significantly associated with clinicopathologic characteristics and can be used to predict patient survival parameters. Due to their abundance, conservation, stability, specificity, and detectability, circRNAs are considered potential diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers for BCa.

AUF1 ligand circPCNX reduces cell proliferation by competing with p21 mRNA to increase p21 production

Dimitrios Tsitsipatis et al.

Summary: The study revealed the interaction between AUF1 and circPCNX, which can impact the production of p21 in cells and regulate cell proliferation. Eliminating the AUF1-binding region of circPCNX can abolish the increase in p21 levels and rescue proliferation.

Circular RNA RBPMS inhibits bladder cancer progression via miR-330-3p/RAI2 regulation

Chen Yang et al.

Summary: Our study revealed the tumor suppressive role of circRBPMS in bladder cancer by targeting the miR-330-3p/RAI2 axis, leading to inhibition of cell proliferation and metastasis. Downregulation of circRBPMS is associated with aggressive bladder cancer, while upregulation can suppress cell proliferation and migration.

circST6GALNAC6 suppresses bladder cancer metastasis by sponging miR-200a-3p to modulate the STMN1/EMT axis

Shuo Tan et al.

Summary: Bladder cancer is an aggressive malignancy with high recurrence rates and distant metastasis, and circular RNAs (circRNAs) play important regulatory roles in cancer progression. In this study, circST6GALNAC6 was identified as downregulated in bladder cancer tissues and cells, inhibiting cell proliferation, migration, invasion, and epithelial-mesenchymal transition both in vitro and in vivo by sponging miR-200a-3p to regulate STMN1 expression. This SP1-induced circST6GALNAC6/miR-200a-3p/STMN1 axis provides potential prognostic biomarkers and therapeutic targets for bladder cancer metastasis.

Wen Su et al.

Summary: The study identified the highly expressed circPHIP in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC), which enhances malignancy through the miR-1425p/PHIP-ACTN4/AKT signaling axis. Targeting circPHIP may represent a novel therapeutic strategy for OSCC.

Utility of serum neuropilin-1 and angiopoietin-2 as markers of hepatocellular carcinoma

Muhammad Tarek Abdel Ghafar et al.

Summary: This study found that serum neuropilin-1 (NRP-1) is a potential serological marker for diagnosing hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), and when combined with alpha-fetoprotein (AFP), it enhances diagnostic power. High levels of NRP-1 and angiopoietin-2 (ANG-2) in serum are associated with advanced characteristics of HCC tumors.

A novel protein encoded by circular SMO RNA is essential for Hedgehog signaling activation and glioblastoma tumorigenicity

Xujia Wu et al.

Summary: This study identifies SMO-193a.a. encoded by circ-SMO as a critical component for Hedgehog signaling activation in glioblastoma, playing a key role in tumorigenesis. The positive feedback loop involving Shh/Gli1/FUS/SMO-193a.a. sustains Hedgehog signaling in glioblastoma, with higher expression of SMO-193a.a. predicting worse overall survival in patients, highlighting its potential prognostic value.
