Secondary school canteens in Australia: analysis of canteen menus from a repeated cross-sectional national survey

Ashleigh Haynes et al.

Summary: The study reveals substantial room for improvement in the nutritional quality of canteen menus in Australian secondary schools, with nearly all menus offering red items not in compliance with national standards, and a majority of canteens providing snacks and drinks of poor nutritional quality. Red items, which are cheaper and often promoted, are more prevalent than green items on menus.

Alvina R. Kansra et al.

Summary: Obesity is a complex condition influenced by various factors, and childhood and adolescent obesity is often linked to energy imbalance which can lead to health issues later in life. Lifestyle interventions have limited effectiveness in weight loss, while trials using GLP-1 agonists have shown success in obese patients.
