The Physics of the Coronal-line Region for Galaxies in Mapping Galaxies at Apache Point Observatory

James Negus et al.

Summary: The study investigates the nature and extent of the coronal-line region (CLR) in galaxies, finding that the CLR is more extended than previously thought and shows signs of shocks through electron temperatures. The production of coronal lines is believed to be primarily driven by ionizing photons emitted by the central continuum source, with energetic shocks as an additional ionization mechanism for the most extended CLR regions measured.

Disentangling the Physical Origin of Emission Line Ratio Offsets at High Redshift with Spatially Resolved Spectroscopy

Jessie Hirtenstein et al.

Summary: Spatially resolved spectroscopy of 15 galaxies at z similar to 0.8 from the DEEP2 survey reveals that emission is mainly dominated by star-forming H ii regions, with weak evidence of DIG emission and no significant evidence of AGN. The study suggests that photoionization modeling with stellar population synthesis inputs is a valuable tool for exploring specific star formation properties that may cause observed BPT offsets.

A Catalog of Host Galaxies for WISE-selected AGN: Connecting Host Properties with Nuclear Activity and Identifying Contaminants

R. Scott Barrows et al.

Summary: The catalog of galaxies hosting AGNs detected by WISE provides physical properties such as photometric redshifts, AGN bolometric luminosities, AGN obscuration, host galaxy stellar masses, and host galaxy star formation rates. The wide-area coverage of this catalog significantly increases the known number of obscured AGNs up to redshifts around 3, making it valuable for research on AGN and their host galaxies.

Chemical abundances in Seyfert galaxies - V. The discovery of shocked emission outside the AGN ionization axis

R. A. Riffel et al.

Summary: Maps of electron temperature in three luminous Seyfert galaxies were obtained using Gemini Multi-Object Spectrograph-integral field unit observations, showing temperatures varying in different ranges. Gas outflow shocks play a significant role in the temperature distributions of Mrk 79 and Mrk 348, while standard photoionization models are effective in reproducing the derived temperature values for Mrk 607. Direct evidence for shock ionization with overall orientation orthogonal to the ionization axis was found in Mrk 79 and Mrk 348.
