Dispersion mechanism-induced variations in microstructural and mechanical behavior of CNT-reinforced aluminum nanocomposites

Kemal Dogan et al.

Summary: The combination of powder metallurgy and ball milling method is considered advantageous for producing multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs)-reinforced aluminum matrix composites. Different milling times were found to affect the structural, morphological, and crystallographic properties of the composites, with longer milling times resulting in smaller particle size and more uniform dispersion of CNTs. The resulting composites showed increased hardness, attributed to various strengthening effects, but density results varied depending on the milling time.

Investigation of microstructure and mechanical properties of Cu/Ti-B-SiCP hybrid composites

Serhat Sap et al.

Summary: Through microstructure studies, a homogeneous interface between reinforcement elements and main matrix was determined in the Cu/Ti-B-SiCp hybrid composite materials; the samples with 6 wt% reinforcement ratio showed the highest hardness value, while samples with 4 wt% reinforcement ratio exhibited the maximum strength values in hardness and strength tests.

Grain size stabilization of oxide dispersion strengthened CoCrFeNi-Y(2)O3 high entropy alloys synthesized by mechanical alloying

Mustafa Tekin et al.

Summary: Nanocrystalline CoCrFeNi high entropy alloys with 1 and 4 wt% nanosized Y2O3 were synthesized and annealed at different temperatures. The addition of Y2O3 nanoparticles improved the grain size stability and hardness of CoCrFeNi at high temperatures, showing potential for enhancing its mechanical properties.

Fabrication and investigation of mechanical properties of copper matrix nanocomposite reinforced by steel particle

Vahid Norouzifard et al.

Summary: A copper matrix nanocomposite reinforced by steel particles was prepared using the casting method, with investigation into the effects of reinforcement particle content on microstructure, mechanical properties, fracture mechanisms, and electrical conductivity. An analytical model was developed to predict the mechanical strength, showing that the addition of steel particles significantly increased the strength and toughness of the copper matrix with little adverse effect on electrical conductivity.

Parametric Optimization for Improving the Machining Process of Cu/Mo-SiCP Composites Produced by Powder Metallurgy

Emine Sap et al.

Summary: Composite materials, such as Cu/Mo-SiCP composite materials produced by powder metallurgy, exhibit excellent performance attributes. The reinforcement ratio was found to be the dominant factor influencing all response parameters. Different machining parameters also have an impact on surface roughness, flank wear, and cutting temperature.
