Integrated application of transcriptomics and metabolomics provides insights into the larval metamorphosis of pearl oyster (Pinctada fucata martensii)

Jiabin Zhang et al.

Summary: This study used metabolomic and transcriptomic approaches to analyze the metabolic and transcript changes in different larval stages of Pinctada fucata martensii, identifying key pathways and understanding the molecular and metabolic mechanisms underlying larval metamorphosis. The results showed significant differences in metabolites and gene expression between different larval stages, particularly in pathways associated with neurotransmitters. This integrated analysis provides valuable insights into the process of larval settlement and metamorphosis in P. f. martensii.

Identification and Allelic Variants Associated With Cold Tolerance of PmPIAS in Pinctada fucata martensii

Zhuoxin Lai et al.

Summary: The study characterized the PIAS in the pearl oyster Pinctada fucata martensii, showing a conserved primary structure and significant high expression in the gonad. Moreover, under cold tolerance stress, PmPIAS exhibited significantly higher expression, indicating its potential in cold tolerance.

Use of Mycophenolate mofetil as immunosuppressant during pearl production in pearl oyster Pinctada fucata martensii

Zefeng Gu et al.

Summary: This study demonstrated that mycophenolate mofetil (MMF) can significantly increase pearl retention rates in pearl oysters without affecting survival rates and high-quality pearl rates. Molecular and histological analysis indicated that MMF effectively regulates immune response induced by transplantation and improves the performance of pearl production.

Striated myosin heavy chain gene is a crucial regulator of larval myogenesis in the pacific oyster Crassostrea gigas

Huijuan Li et al.

Summary: The Pacific oyster's striated myosin heavy chain, CgSmhc, has high expression levels during development and is primarily expressed in muscle tissues. Various conserved binding sites of myogenesis-related regulatory elements were found in the 5'-flanking region of CgSmhc, and a 2000 bp sequence was sufficient to induce its expression. Disruption of CgSmhc using CRISPR/Cas9 had a visible effect on the sarcomeric organization of thin filaments in larval musculature, indicating its importance in regulating correct assembly during larval myogenesis.
