One-pot thermal polymerization route to prepare N-deficient modified g-C3N4 for the degradation of tetracycline by the synergistic effect of photocatalysis and persulfate-based advanced oxidation process

Haoran Sun et al.

Summary: A nitrogen-deficient g-C3N4 (CNx) photocatalyst was synthesized through thermal polymerization of urea and oxamide for tetracycline degradation under visible light with persulfate activation. The CNx/PS system showed high efficiency in degrading TC, with factors like catalyst and PS dosage, initial TC concentration, and pH affecting the degradation process. LC-MS analysis was used to identify intermediate products, and toxicity of the TC solution was effectively reduced after degradation.

Carbonized polymer dots modified ultrathin Bi12O17Cl2 nanosheets Z-scheme heterojunction for robust CO2 photoreduction

Yu Quan et al.

Summary: Efficient photocatalytic CO2 reduction has been achieved by evenly loading 0D carbonized polymer dots onto ultrathin 2D Bi12O17Cl2 nanosheets to construct a Z-scheme carrier migration system. This system enhances CO production by promoting visible light absorption, improving carrier separation efficiency, and increasing activity specific surface area. The study provides insights into the mechanisms behind the increased CO2 conversion efficiency.

Efficient photocatalytic degradation of tetracycline under visible light by Z-scheme Ag3PO4/mixed-valence MIL-88A(Fe) heterojunctions: Mechanism insight, degradation pathways and DFT calculation

Zhenfei Yang et al.

Summary: In this study, Ag3PO4/mixed-valence MIL-88A(Fe) [AMM] Z-scheme heterojunctions with an in-situ-generated photo-Fenton process were successfully constructed, showing improved photocatalytic activity. The Z-scheme transfer pathway accelerated charge carrier transport and inhibited photocorrosion, leading to enhanced photocatalytic performance. The FeII/FeIII ratio adjustment of mixed-valence MIL-88A(Fe) further increased the photocatalytic activity, benefiting from the efficiency of the in-situ-generated photo-Fenton process.

Unique Z-scheme carbonized polymer dots/Bi4O5Br2 hybrids for efficiently boosting photocatalytic CO2 reduction

Bin Wang et al.

Summary: The study successfully designed and fabricated a CPDs/Bi4O5Br2 heterojunction with high-efficiency photocatalytic CO2 reduction activity. The composite material demonstrated significantly improved CO production compared to Bi4O5Br2 nanosheets under Xe lamp irradiation, with a 5.43 fold increase. Additionally, the CPDs with up-conversion properties were able to broaden the light utilization range, leading to enhanced CO2 conversion performance at excitation wavelengths greater than 580 nm.

Promoted elimination of antibiotic sulfamethoxazole in water using sodium percarbonate activated by ozone: Mechanism, degradation pathway and toxicity assessment

He Guo et al.

Summary: The combination of sodium percarbonate (SPC) and ozone (O-3) was effective in enhancing the elimination of sulfamethoxazole (SMX) in water, with alkaline conditions showing the best removal efficiency. Free radicals, especially (OH)•, played a crucial role in the decomposition of SMX, and the addition of SPC promoted the production of (OH)• in the O-3 system, leading to improved elimination of SMX. The degradation of SMX and the enhancement of TOC and COD removal were observed in the O-3/SPC system, indicating the potential of this method for water treatment.
