A binary classifier based on a reconfigurable dense network of metallic nanojunctions

Matteo Mirigliano et al.

Summary: Efforts have been made to reproduce brain performances through artificial neuromorphic systems based on top-down lithographic technologies typical of digital computers. Unconventional computing utilizing complex physical substrates has been proposed as an alternative. Non-linear nanoscale junctions comprised of nano-objects show non-linear conduction properties useful for complex feature classification.

Towards a generalized theory comprising digital, neuromorphic and unconventional computing

Herbert Jaeger

Summary: The paper investigates the relationships among digital, neuromorphic, unconventional, and possible future computing paradigms, highlighting that different choices of background mathematics lead to fundamentally different understandings of computing. Despite this diversity, a unified coordinate system for theorizing about computing can still be distilled.
