Composite structure Cr:YAG/Ce:YAG and (Ce,Cr):YAG/Ce:YAG transparent ceramics with high color rendering index for white LEDs/LDs

Jin Huang et al.

Summary: Transparent ceramics with high color rendering index are considered as excellent color converters for white LED and LD devices. By utilizing the component and structural designs between layers, composite structure TCs with high CRI were fabricated. The study shows that the optimized structure design can achieve higher CRI values and good luminescence properties.

Photoluminescence and optical properties of Eu3+/Eu2+-doped transparent Al2O3 ceramics

R. Klement et al.

Summary: Transparent Eu3+-doped alumina ceramics with fine-grained microstructure were studied for their optical properties and photoluminescence. It was found that light transmission through ceramics at high dopant concentrations is dominated by birefringence scattering at grain boundaries, while high photoluminescence intensity is achieved as a result of dopant segregation at grain boundaries. Luminescence decay in these ceramics was single-exponential with a lifetime around 1.5 ms, and the reduction of Eu3+ to Eu2+ under H2 atmosphere was challenging post-sintering. Additionally, two coexisting Eu2+ emitting PL centers were identified, emitting blue and green light with different decay constants.

High Quantum Yield Gd4.67Si3O13:Eu3+ Red-Emitting Phosphor for Tunable White Light-Emitting Devices Driven by UV or Blue LED

Wanggui Ye et al.

Summary: Eu3+-activated Gd4.67Si3O13 rare-earth silicate phosphor has been developed with high photoluminescence quantum yields exceeding 80%, comparable to commercial rare-earth nitride red phosphors. This phosphor can be excited by near-ultraviolet or blue light and emits red light at a dominant wavelength of 615 nm, making it suitable for warm white LED applications. Additionally, it exhibits good thermal cycling stability and has potential applications in optical temperature measurement systems with a maximum relative sensitivity of 1.05 x 10(-2) K-1 at 456 K.
