Superior photoelectrocatalytic performance of ternary structural BiVO4/GQD/g-C3N4 heterojunction

Mohamad Fakhrul Ridhwan Samsudin et al.

Summary: This study compared the effectiveness of using RGO and GQDs as electron mediators in enhancing the photoelectrocatalytic hydrogen production of BiVO4/g-C3N4. It was found that incorporating GQDs led to significantly improved hydrogen performance, higher photocurrent density, and lower charge transfer resistance compared to RGO. The DFT analysis demonstrated that the enhanced performance with GQDs was due to better electronic cloud density sharing and charge redistribution at the heterostructure interface.

Precise location and regulation of active sites for highly efficient photocatalytic synthesis of ammonia by facet-dependent BiVO4 single crystals

Guanhua Zhang et al.

Summary: Based on characterizations and experiments, it was confirmed that the cycle of oxygen vacancy-V4+/V5+ on the (040) facet is the exact active site for the photocatalytic NRR by bismuth vanadate single crystal. V4+ plays a role in N2 chemisorption, V5+ acts as an electron transfer bridge. In contrast, the (110) facet is a more inert facet for the pNRR.

Atomically dispersed cobalt-based species anchored on polythiophene as an efficient electrocatalyst for oxygen evolution reaction

Danning Xing et al.

Summary: An atomically dispersed cobalt coordinated with oxygen and sulfur on a conductive polymer polythiophene was prepared as a stable electrocatalyst for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER). The resulting Co@PTh electrocatalyst exhibited excellent OER performance, surpassing RuO2 and comparable to IrO2. This suggests that the cobalt-based species on PTh could be a promising alternative to precious-metal-based catalysts.

Novel vacancy-rich Co3O4/VO2 nanohybrids for enhanced electrocatalytic performance and application as oxygen evolution electrocatalysts

Rongrong Cui et al.

Summary: Structure and defect control can effectively manipulate the activity and stability of catalysts. The introduction of defect in the interface of Co3O4/VO2 nanohybrids provides more available catalytic active sites and efficiently stabilizes the interfacial structure, leading to significantly improved electrochemical performance. These results highlight the importance of rational design and control of vacancy defects in the development of advanced hybrid nanomaterials.
