Hierarchical porous nickel supported NiFeOxHy nanosheets for efficient and robust oxygen evolution electrocatalyst under industrial condition

Bo Zhong et al.

Summary: Hydrogen is considered as the most promising alternative energy carrier for the future energy system. Water electrolysis, as an innovative method for green hydrogen production, is hindered by the slow kinetics of the oxygen evolution reaction (OER). The development of efficient and robust electrocatalysts for OER is crucial for promoting the hydrogen industry.

Nano-engineering of Ru-based hierarchical porous nanoreactors for highly efficient pH-universal overall water splitting

Cheng-Bin Hong et al.

Summary: A facile methodology was reported for fabricating hierarchical porous nanostructures riveted with ultrafine Ru nanoclusters, serving as high-performance nanoreactors for overall water splitting. The nanoreactors exhibited remarkable performance for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) across a wide pH range, with an alkaline HER overpotential of only 25 mV@10 mA cm(-2) and an ultrahigh turnover frequency (TOF) value. Additionally, the nanoreactors showed prominent oxygen evolution reaction (OER) activity and were used to construct a two-electrode device for efficient overall water splitting with high H-2 generation rates in varied pH media.

Tuning electron correlations of RuO2 by co-doping of Mo and Ce for boosting electrocatalytic water oxidation in acidic media

Jing He et al.

Summary: By incorporating Mo and Ce into RuO2, the electronic structures were effectively tuned, resulting in enhanced catalytic activity and stability, as well as reduced energy barrier for the oxygen evolution reaction. Ru3MoCeOx exhibited outstanding activity and long-term stability in PEM electrolyzers, making it a promising efficient anode catalyst for water splitting.

Single atom Ru doping 2H-MoS2 as highly efficient hydrogen evolution reaction electrocatalyst in a wide pH range

Jing Wang et al.

Summary: This study successfully synthesized single atom ruthenium-doped 2H-MoS2 catalysts, improving the performance of hydrogen evolution reaction and showing lower overpotentials under different pH conditions. Density functional theory results indicate that this catalyst has a lower Gibbs free energy of H-adsorption, providing a feasible approach for designing and synthesizing efficient MoS2-based catalysts.
