Studies on Vibrio mimicus derived collagenase variants providing insights into critical role(s) played by the FAXWXXT motifs in its collagen-binding domain

Mithun Santra et al.

Summary: By studying various variants of Vibrio mimicus collagenase (VMC), it was found that VMC mutants VMT1 and VMT2 exhibit reduced activity, with VMT2 potentially having decreased binding to collagen. VMC appears to act by unwinding and altering the structure of the collagen triple helix, similar to Clostridium collagenases.
