Resveratrol reduces DRP1-mediated mitochondrial dysfunction via the SIRT1-PGC1α signaling pathway in manganese-induced nerve damage in mice

Meng-Yu Lei et al.

Summary: This study investigated the molecular mechanisms by which resveratrol alleviates nerve injury and mitochondrial fragmentation caused by excessive manganese exposure. The results demonstrated that resveratrol activated the deacetylase activity of SIRT1, protecting against mitochondrial damage and inhibiting mitochondrial fragmentation. Resveratrol reduces mitochondrial dysfunction through modulation of the SIRT1/PGC-1 alpha signaling pathway.

Copper (Cu) induced changes of lipid metabolism through oxidative stress-me diated autophagy and Nrf2/PPARγ pathways

Chong-Chao Zhong et al.

Summary: Oxidative stress and autophagy are involved in copper-induced lipid deposition, and Nrf2 plays a crucial role in this process, regulating lipid metabolism and lipogenesis. Additionally, oxidative stress promotes Nrf2 recruitment to the PPAR gamma promoter, leading to target gene transcription and subsequent lipogenesis.

Mitochondria and lipid peroxidation in the mechanism of neurodegeneration: Finding ways for prevention

Plamena R. Angelova et al.

Summary: With the aging population, neurodegenerative diseases have become a major challenge in modern society, with lipid peroxidation playing a key role in the mechanism of neuronal loss. Research suggests that products of lipid peroxidation can trigger neuronal cell death, providing potential new therapeutic directions for neurodegenerative disorders.

NOX4 promotes ferroptosis of astrocytes by oxidative stress-induced lipid peroxidation via the impairment of mitochondrial metabolism in Alzheimer?s diseases

Min Woo Park et al.

Summary: The study found elevated levels of NOX4 protein in impaired astrocytes of AD patients and mouse AD models, leading to oxidative stress and ferroptosis. Overexpression of NOX4 resulted in impaired mitochondrial metabolism and oxidative stress, increasing ferroptosis in astrocytes.

Lipid overload impairs hepatic VLDL secretion via oxidative stress-mediated PKCS-HNF4α-MTP pathway in large yellow croaker (Larimichthys crocea)

Wei Fang et al.

Summary: The study revealed that lipid overload impairs hepatic VLDL secretion via oxidative stress-mediated PKC δ-HNF4 alpha-MTP pathway in fish, and the detrimental effects can be partly alleviated by PKC δ inhibitor or ROS scavenger. This may provide critical insights into potential intervention strategies against lipid overload-induced hepatic steatosis.
