Cigarette Smoking Associated with Colorectal Cancer Survival: A Nationwide, Population-Based Cohort Study

Yu-Min Huang et al.

Summary: This nationwide population-based cohort study conducted in Taiwan found a significant association between cigarette smoking and poor survival in patients with colorectal cancer. Smoking patients had a higher mortality risk compared to nonsmoking patients, particularly those who smoked 11-20 cigarettes per day or smoked for more than 30 years. The effects of smoking were more pronounced in male patients and those with colon cancer.
