Undifferentiated arthritis: a changing population who did not benefit from enhanced disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drug strategies-results from a 25 year longitudinal inception cohort

Marloes Verstappen et al.

Summary: International guidelines emphasize the timely initiation of DMARD treatment for early arthritis, but the definition of contemporary undifferentiated arthritis (UA) has changed and there is a lack of placebo-controlled trials on DMARD efficacy. This study found that although intensified DMARD treatment slightly improved disease activity scores, physical functioning and long-term outcomes did not improve.
