TEMPO-Enabled Electrochemical Enantioselective Oxidative Coupling of Secondary Acyclic Amines with Ketones

Zhen-Hua Wang et al.

Summary: An electrochemical asymmetric coupling of secondary acyclic amines with ketones via Shono-type oxidation was achieved, resulting in good to excellent diastereoselectivity and enantioselectivity of the corresponding amino acid derivatives. The addition of an N-oxyl radical as a redox mediator allowed for selective oxidation of the substrate over the product, maintaining reaction selectivity.
