Chiral covalent organic framework-monolith as stationary phase for high-performance liquid chromatographic enantioseparation of selected amino acids

Hai-Long Qian et al.

Summary: The facile preparation of a chiral COF-monolith with high permeability and mechanical stability through orthogonal experiments was achieved for enantiomeric separation of AAs in HPLC. The resulting monolithic column showed better chiral HPLC separation performance than commercial columns, indicating the potential of chiral COF as a stationary phase for HPLC applications. Thermal dynamic analysis and molecular docking calculations suggested the involvement of stereoscopic interactions in the enantioseparation process.

Highly Stable Zr(IV)-Based Metal-Organic Frameworks for Chiral Separation in Reversed-Phase Liquid Chromatography

Hong Jiang et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates that highly stable Zr-based MOFs can be efficient CSPs for RP-HPLC. By designing and synthesizing three chiral porous Zr(IV)-MOFs with chiral crown ether moieties aligned within framework channels, they show excellent tolerance to water, acid, and base. Under acidic eluent conditions, Zr-MOF-packed HPLC columns provide high resolution, selectivity, and durability for the separation of various racemates.

SO2 Capture Using Porous Organic Cages

Eva Martinez-Ahumada et al.

Summary: This study conducted the first experimental investigation on porous organic cages (POCs) for capturing SO2. It was found that a tertiary amine POC (6FT-RCC3) exhibited high and reversible SO2 capture, demonstrating excellent performance for at least 50 adsorption-desorption cycles. The adsorption behavior was analyzed using FTIR spectroscopy, C-13 CP-MAS NMR experiments, and computational calculations.

Incorporation of Metals and Enzymes with Porous Imine Molecule Cages for Highly Efficient Semiheterogeneous Chemoenzymatic Catalysis

Shiqi Gao et al.

Summary: This research focused on the fabrication of a semiheterogeneous metal-enzyme-integrated catalyst using soluble porous imine molecule cages. The catalyst exhibited high activity, selectivity, and reusability in chemoenzymatic dynamic kinetic resolution of amines at low temperature, with high yields and enantioselectivities. The study revealed the key roles played by IMCs in supporting and stabilizing metal nanoparticles and enzymes, solubilizing the catalyst in organic medium, and creating hydrophobic and basic microenvironments for improved catalytic efficiency.
