Intrinsic Electrocatalytic Activity of Single MoS2 Quantum Dot Collision on Ag Ultramicroelectrodes

Hao Wang et al.

Summary: Researchers demonstrated a single-entity electrochemical method using silver ultramicroelectrodes (UMEs) to investigate the enhancing hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) activity of single MoS2 quantum dots (QDs). The results showed that the current density of single MoS2 QD collision on Ag UMEs is much higher than on C UMEs, indicating the impact of the unique properties of the metal-MoS2 interface on HER performance.

Intrinsic Catalytic Activities from Single Enzyme@Metal-Organic Frameworks by Using a Stochastic Collision Electrochemical Technique

Haoran Tang et al.

Summary: In this study, enzymes encapsulated in metal-organic frameworks were investigated for their catalytic activities at the single entity level. It was found that glucose oxidase@amorphous ZIF-8 exhibited higher catalytic activity compared to glucose oxidase@crystalline ZIF-8. Additionally, the intrinsic catalytic activity of glucose oxidase in amorphous ZIF-8 was revealed through k(cat) and TON analysis.

Direct Observation of Amide Bond Formation in a Plasmonic Nanocavity Triggered by Single Nanoparticle Collisions

Na Kong et al.

Summary: Real-time observation of chemical bond formation at the single-molecule level poses a challenge in organic and biomolecular chemistry. The use of plasmonic nanocavities, along with surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) and single-entity electrochemistry (EC) measurements, allows for the dynamic evolution of amide bond formation in the aminolysis reaction to be probed with high sensitivity. This study demonstrates the value of using single-entity EC-SERS for studying chemical reactions at the single-molecule level.
