Level of pesticides contamination in the major river systems: A review on South Asian countries perspective

Shudeepta Sarker et al.

Summary: Pesticides are widely used in various purposes globally, and despite bans in some developed countries, they continue to contaminate South Asian river systems. Key compounds like DDTs, HCHs, and chlorpyrifos are consistently found, with industrial discharge and agricultural run-off identified as probable sources. Effective rules and enforcement are urgently needed to control the manufacture and use of these banned pesticides to safeguard the environment.

Accelerating Fe(III)/Fe(II) cycle via Fe(II) substitution for enhancing Fenton-like performance of Fe-MOFs

Taoyu Yang et al.

Summary: The Fenton-like performance of Fe-MOFs was improved by manipulating the structure of iron-oxo nodes with Fe(II) substitution, resulting in a material with stronger active sites and higher density of Fe(III) coordinatively unsaturated iron centers. This enhancement facilitated the rapid activation of H2O2 and efficient degradation of pollutants.

In-situ prepared MIL-53(Fe)/BiOI photocatalyst for efficient degradation of tetracycline under visible-light driven photo-Fenton system: Investigation of performance and mechanism

Yuhan Ma et al.

Summary: In this study, MIL-53(Fe)/BiOI composites were synthesized and used as photocatalysts in the photo-Fenton system for tetracycline degradation. The enhanced photocatalytic activity was attributed to the efficient separation of electrons and holes, and the main reactive species in the degradation process were identified as h(+) and singlet oxygen. The possible photo-Fenton degradation mechanism was elucidated based on the band structures of MIL-53(Fe) and BiOI, showing promising applications in environmental restoration and protection.
