Patterns of mobility and its impact on retention in care among people living with HIV in the Manhica District, Mozambique

Edson L. Bernardo et al.

Summary: Retention in HIV care is challenging in Mozambique, especially in the southern provinces with high levels of mobility. A study was conducted to explore the impact of mobility on ART retention for HIV-positive adults. The study found that migrants had frequent lapses in ART pick-up, but there was no significant difference in delays between mobile and non-mobile cohorts. Further studies are needed to evaluate strategies for mobile populations in accessing HIV care while traveling.
