Synthesis, Structure, and Antiproliferative Action of 2-Pyridyl Urea-Based Cu(II) Complexes

Kirill K. Geyl et al.

Summary: In this study, twelve previously unknown Cu(II) complexes were synthesized using a newly suggested protocol for conveniently accessing variously substituted 2-pyridyl ureas. The structures of the complexes were evaluated using elemental analysis, HRMS, IR spectroscopy, and X-ray diffraction study. Two structural motifs were identified based on the substitution pattern on the 2-pyridine fragment. The antiproliferative activity of the synthesized complexes against lung cancer cell lines was investigated, along with their non-specific cytotoxicity against healthy cells. Certain complexes showed enhanced activity against drug-resistant cells with moderate selectivity towards normal cells. The mechanism of antiproliferative effect was studied through additional experiments, including cell cycle analysis and apoptosis induction test. The findings suggest that these 2-pyridyl urea-based Cu(II) complexes have potential as starting points for further exploration of their anticancer properties.

Self-Assembly of Size-Controlled m-Pyridine-Urea Oligomers and Their Biomimetic Chloride Ion Channels

Hualong Chen et al.

Summary: The m-pyridine urea (mPU) oligomer folds and exhibits strong self-assembly behavior due to intramolecular and intermolecular hydrogen bonding. The trimer self-assembles into helical nanotubes and efficiently transports chloride ions, making it a novel and efficient strategy for constructing self-assembled biomimetic materials for electron-rich species transmission.

Summary: A series of N-pyridyl ureas bearing 1,2,4- and 1,3,4-oxadiazole moieties were synthesized, characterized, and analyzed through crystallography, Hirshfeld surface analysis, DFT calculations, and database surveys to reveal the interactions between these compounds. The study not only confirmed the presence of specific interactions theoretically, but also identified similar examples in other databases, demonstrating the generality of the observed interactions.

Deprotonated diaminocarbene platinum complexes for thermoresponsive luminescent silicone materials: both catalysts and luminophores

Mikhail Dobrynin et al.

Summary: C,N-Chelate deprotonated diaminocarbene platinum(II) complexes were synthesized by coupling coordinate isocyanides and azinyl-substituted ureas, which act as catalysts for the hydrosilylation cross-linking of silicone rubbers. Among these complexes, one containing (aminoisoquinoline) exhibited temperature-responsive luminescence, showing irreversible changes in emission from green radiation at 80-100 degrees C to blue radiation at 120 degrees C or higher.
