A Methodical Review on the Applications and Potentialities of Using Nanobiosensors for Disease Diagnosis

Kingsley Eghonghon Ukhurebor et al.

Summary: With the introduction of nanotechnology, biosensors and/or nanobiosensors are being widely used in various scientific domains, including environmental and agricultural sciences, as well as biomedical, clinical, and healthcare sciences. The characteristics of these sensors are primarily determined by the nanomaterials/nanoparticles used in the sensing mechanisms. In recent years, nanotechnology-based biosensors/nanobiosensors have been successfully employed for the identification and detection of biological markers associated with infectious and noncommunicable diseases. This study reviews the development of highly sensitive nanobiosensors and their applications in biomedical, clinical, or/and healthcare settings, particularly for the detection of deadly diseases.

A Facile Review on the Sorption of Heavy Metals and Dyes Using Bionanocomposites

Uyiosa Osagie Aigbe et al.

Summary: This study reviewed the existing research on the sorption of heavy metals and dyes using bionanocomposites, focusing on the development of eco-friendly, effective nanoadsorbents for superior contaminant sequestration. The sorption process was found to be influenced by pH, sorbent dosage, and initial contaminant concentration, with sorption capacities ranging from 1.47 to 740.97 mg/g. Future prospects for the treatment of contaminated water using BNCs were also discussed.
