Nonlocal free and forced vibration of multilayered two-dimensional quasicrystal nanoplates

Yang Li et al.

Summary: A three-dimensional plate model capturing the size effect was developed for the free and forced vibration of a layered two-dimensional quasicrystal nanoplate. By utilizing pseudo-Stroh formalism, Eringen's nonlocal theory, and a dual variable and position method, the exact solution for the nanoplate was obtained, showing the effects of nonlocal parameter, stacking sequence, and aspect ratio on natural and forcing frequencies.

Electromechanical coupling characteristics of double-layer piezoelectric quasicrystal actuators

Yunzhi Huang et al.

Summary: The electromechanical coupling characteristics of a double-layer piezoelectric quasicrystal micro/nano-actuator were studied, with a focus on the effects of van der Waals force and Casimir force on phonon stress and displacement. The study also revealed that the phonon-phason coupling elastic coefficient and nonlocal scale parameter have positive and negative effects on static responses.

Static response and free vibration analysis for cubic quasicrystal laminates with imperfect interfaces

Xin Feng et al.

Summary: This paper presents an analytical treatment for the static response and free vibration of a multilayered three-dimensional, cubic quasicrystal rectangular plate with bonding imperfections, utilizing linear eigenvalue system and propagator matrices to address numerical instabilities caused by imperfect interfaces while considering traction-free boundary conditions.

Analysis of interface cracks in one-dimensional hexagonal quasi-crystal coating under in-plane loads

MingHao Zhao et al.

Summary: The displacement discontinuity method is proposed to analyze interface cracks in one-dimensional hexagonal quasi-crystal coatings under in-plane loads. Fundamental solutions and hyper-singular boundary integral-differential equations for unit-point and uniformly distributed DDs are derived. Stress intensity factors and energy release rate are presented without oscillatory singularity. The DD boundary element method is proposed for numerical simulation and the influence of various factors on fracture behavior is comprehensively studied.

Analytical solutions for surface stress effects on buckling and post-buckling behavior of thin symmetric porous nano-plates resting on elastic foundation

Farhad Kamali et al.

Summary: A novel size-dependent formulation is presented in this research to describe the buckling and post-buckling behavior of thin symmetric porous nano-plates embedded in an elastic substrate medium. Numerical examples investigate the effects of residual stress, surface elasticity, material porosity, and subgrade modulus on the critical buckling traction and static equilibrium paths curves. The findings suggest that residual stress significantly influences the buckling traction value and equilibrium path curve, while reducing material porosity and increasing subgrade modulus lead to higher buckling traction values for the nano-plate.
