A crucial impact of short-range ordering on the cyclic deformation and damage behavior of face-centered cubic alloys: A case study on Cu-Mn alloys

D. Han et al.

Summary: By increasing the Mn content, the cyclic hardening capacity and fatigue life of Cu-Mn alloys are notably improved, with significant changes in damage behavior including a transition in cracking mode and enhanced resistance to crack propagation. The study found that the changes in slip mode are closely related to the presence of short-range ordering (SRO) in the alloy.

The effect of local chemical ordering on dislocation activity in multi-principle element alloys: A three-dimensional discrete dislocation dynamics study

Markus Sudmanns et al.

Summary: This study introduces a formulation for considering the interaction between dislocations and substitutional solute atoms in fcc alloys in 3D DDD simulations. The model can explain phenomena such as slow dislocation motion, frequent cross-slip, and alignment with solute aggregation features observed in multi-principal element alloys.

Composition-dependent slip planarity in mechanically-stable face centered cubic complex concentrated alloys and its mechanical effects

Summary: Enhancing strain hardening capacity in metallic materials can positively impact various properties such as ductility, fracture toughness, and ultimate tensile strength. This research focuses on the basic strain hardening effect arising from dislocation kinematics and interactions, rather than mechanically-induced twinning or martensitic transformation effects. The addition of Al and Ti in the FCC CCAs Ni2CoCrFe and Ni2CoCrFeTi0.2Al0.1 leads to significant increases in strength and ductility through a transition from wavy slip to planar slip, as confirmed by microstructure analyses.
